FONDS DE RECHERCE DU QUEBEC

Reporting to the Minister of the Economy, Innovation and Energy of the government of Québec (Canada), the mission of Fonds de recherche du Québec is to ensure the strategic and coherent development of Québec research and to provide financial support for it, to support the training of the next generation of researchers, to establish the partnerships needed to achieve their mission and to promote and support the mobilization of knowledge.


UNIVERSITY OF RWANDA

The University of Rwanda (UR) is a public Higher Learning Institution established in 2013. The University has six colleges College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS), College of Agriculture, Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (CAVM), College of Business and Economics (CBE), College of Education (CE), College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS), College of Science and Technology (CST) and nine campuses across the country offering a wide range of academic studies.

The Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade is responsible for the formulation and implementation of Malta’s foreign policy, ensuring coherence across the Government.  The Ministry works to develop and maintain positive relations with other countries and international organizations, promoting mutual understanding and cooperation on issues of common concern. This is also achieved by means of Malta’s 42 diplomatic missions across the world, which are deemed as crucial in achieving foreign policy goals. As from April 2022, the Ministry is also responsible for the promotion of trade and for international trade and cooperation. The Ministry promotes trade, investment opportunities and facilitates commerce in order to increase prosperity, well-being and economic growth.

 The Ministry is also responsible for the provision of consular services to Maltese citizens living or travelling abroad, including assistance in emergencies, issuance of passports and visas.

ORGANISATION OF SOUTHERN COOPERATION

The OSC is an intergovernmental organisation serving as a common platform of solidary cooperation amongst its Member States from across the Global South with four core mandates: building balanced and inclusive education systems, reinforcing transdisciplinary research and production capacities, developing endogenous technologies, enhancing fiscal space through debt relief and highly concessional financing for development. Its founding vision is to contribute to a Third Way of Development, underpinned by amplified South-South cooperation.

 


DEUTSCHE FORSCHUNGSGEMEINSCHAFT (DFG)

The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) is the central self-governing research funding organization in Germany. It serves the sciences and humanities and promotes research of the highest quality at universities and non-university research institutions. The DFG funds projects in knowledge-driven research developed and assessed by the academic community itself. It helps shape the overall conditions and standards of academic research. The DFG maintains a dialogue with society, politics, and business and supports the transfer of knowledge. It advises parliaments, governments, and public institutions on scientific issues. The DFG promotes international cooperation, early career researchers, gender equality, and diversity in science and the humanities. 


INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT RESEARCH CENTRE

As part of Canada’s foreign affairs and development efforts, the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) champions and funds research and innovation within and alongside developing regions to drive global change. We invest in high-quality research in developing countries, share knowledge with researchers and policymakers for greater uptake and use, and mobilize our global alliances to build a more sustainable and inclusive world. Our head office is located in Ottawa, Canada, while five regional offices keep us close to the researchers and projects we fund. The regional offices are located in Montevideo, Uruguay; Nairobi, Kenya, Dakar, Senegal, Amman, Jordan, and New Delhi, India.


INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE COUNCIL

The International Science Council (ISC) is a  non-governmental organization with a unique global membership that brings together more than 245 international scientific Unions and Associations, national and regional scientific organizations including Academies and Research Councils, international Federations and Societies, and Young Academies and Associations. The ISC catalyzes and convenes scientific expertise, advice and influence on issues of major concern to both science and society to fulfil its vision of science as a global public good.


INTERNATIONAL CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE IN TAIPEI

Established in 2010 at the Academy of Sciences in Taipei, the Integrated Research on Disaster Risk program’s International Centre of Excellence in Taipei (IRDR ICoE-Taipei) is a pivotal center within the IRDR program, committed to fostering global collaboration in disaster risk reduction (DRR) research. The ICoE-Taipei promotes integrated research on disaster risk and builds international partnership networks for disaster reduction research. The Center hosts visiting scholar programs and disseminates research findings internationally. The Center trains participants from 20 countries in Advanced Institutes on diverse topics and provides seed grants for regional DRR projects. Its work to foster innovation, collaboration, and knowledge exchange significantly enhances disaster resilience, making it a cornerstone of global DRR efforts.


THE FINNISH ACADEMY OF SCIENCE AND LETTERS

The Finnish Academy of Science and Letters is a learned society founded in 1908 with the principal aim of promoting scientific research, acting as a bond between those engaged in advanced research, and supporting better utilization of high-quality research in societal decision-making. The Academy provides independent science advice, produces evidence syntheses, and organizes dialogues in the science-policy interface. We also actively develop new modes of interaction collaboratively with ministries and other stakeholders. Our key partner in the government of Finland is the Prime Minister’s Office. Also, the Academy distributes research grants, arranges meetings, discussions, and educational events, and produces scientific publications.


THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL UNIVERSITY

The Australian National Centre for the Public Awareness of Science (CPAS) is a global leader in science communication and science engagement research, education and practice. Based in the Australian National University’s (ANU) College of Science, CPAS continues its 30-year mission to encourage the confident democratic ownership of science. Across four key domains, the Centre explores the distinctive contribution science communication can play towards addressing societal challenges: responsible innovation; the science/policy interface; public engagement and informal science learning; and science in the media and popular culture. This work advances scholarship on emerging themes in the discipline: inclusion, ethics and engagement with diverse knowledge forms. CPAS hosts the ANU UNESCO Chair in Science Communication for the Public Good.


THE INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE COUNCIL REGIONAL FOCAL POINT FOR ASIA AND THE PACIFIC

The International Science Council Regional Focal Point for Asia and the Pacific is funded by the Australian Department of Industry, Science and Resources and led by the Australian Academy of Science. The five-year program (2023-2028) is working to ensure that regional needs and priorities are adequately represented in the International Science Council's global agenda on issues of major importance to both science and society.


FRONTIERS RESEARCH FOUNDATION

The Frontiers Research Foundation is a not-for-profit organization based in Switzerland, which was founded by Kamila and Henry Markram, neuroscientists from the Swiss Federal Institute for Technology (EPFL). It raises funds to support programs that accelerate scientific solutions for healthy lives on a healthy planet.

The Frontiers Planet Prize is a global competition for scientists and research institutions to propose solutions to help the planet remain within the safe operating space of any one or more of the nine planetary boundaries. It was created by the Frontiers Research Foundation on Earth Day 2022 to mobilize the global scientific community, make it complete at the highest level of excellence, and contribute to the acceleration of concrete solutions to the challenges defined by the planetary boundaries. To date, it has drawn together hundreds of scientists, 20 national academies of science, 475 leading universities, and research institutions to compete for three prizes of 1M Swiss francs each as adjudicated by a Jury of 100 leading sustainability scientists.


GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT NETWORK (GDN)

The Global Development Network (GDN) is a public international organization that supports high-quality, policy-oriented, social science research in LMICs, to promote better lives. Through its global platform, GDN connects social science researchers with policymakers and development stakeholders across the world. Over the years, GDN has acquired expertise and a global pool of partners and committed resource persons involved in the management of research and research capacity-building activities across countries and disciplines.

Founded in 1999, GDN is currently headquartered in New Delhi, with a presence in Clermont-Ferrand, France and the United States


SCIENCE DIPLOMACY CAPITAL for AFRICA

The Science Diplomacy Capital for Africa (SDCfA) supports socio-economic development in Africa by promoting international collaboration in science and innovation.  The initiative is a platform that facilitates networking between the international community and the National System of Innovation to address common societal challenges by overseeing activities of promotion, networking, and facilitation.  It promotes Africa as a preferred destination for investment and collaboration in science and innovation and is a catalyst for new partnerships that aim to solve societal challenges through science.  The SDCfA Hub is located at the CSIR International Convention Centre, in Pretoria, Tshwane, in South Africa - a precinct for international science and technology innovation entities co-located with a significant international diplomatic community.  SDCfA promotes the value and benefits of science diplomacy across South Africa and throughout the African continent and abroad.
